It was the story of "Wife of bath's Tale" that awakened my interest, because it tells how women
treated in Chaucer's period of time, that during that time, women are only object in man's sight and
treated them not equal and the prevailing beliefs that woman are by nature are sinful made man took
advantage.
It touches my heart, the character of the ugly old woman, who supposed to be the saviour of
the knight for death punishment. She put herself to marry the knight, eventhough, she clearly knows
the consequences. The only thing she wanted was to be free from men's dominance over women.
Inspite of knight's offended words toward her, She cleverly created honest opinion for the knight to choose between ugly but faithful or beautiful but unfaithful. I clearly imagined, how the ugly woman was trying to gain acceptance by men instead of embracing feminity.
I choose to give my point of view in this kind of story ( Wife of Bath's Tale) because it was indeed a very interesting story, eventhough, the characters are only fictional. It also shows the significant value that true beauty lies within, like the character of the old ugly woman. She met her fate
in finding the right man for her in an expected situation but, it was indeed God's will.
